Buzz’s College has been in operation since 2004 and judged Good by Ofsted. It delivers 4 Post-16 education programmes to young people with special educational needs and/ or disabilities (SEND) and these are:
- Transition to Adulthood: Moving on from school
This programme is ideal for anyone making the move from school, or another setting, into adulthood. It offers a highly supportive environment in which each learner may develop those personal and social skills which will enable them to thrive. - Vocational: developing occupational skills to move into employment
The Vocational programme is an ideal progression for learners moving on from Buzz’s Transition programme, or from other settings, who have an interest in Hospitality & Catering or Adult Care. Other vocational areas may be accommodated; please contact us for more information. - Supported internships: developing practical vocational and employability skills in the workplace
This programme is for young people with SEND who are keen to be in employment. The programme prepares participants for work by: supporting them to develop the skills valued by employers, enabling them to demonstrate their value in the workplace and enabling them to achieve relevant qualifications to enhance their career opportunities. - Bespoke programmes
Buzz is able to design tailor-made programmes for young people with SEND where it’s apparent that our other college programmes are not a good fit. These programmes include elements relevant to the individual, including development of personal and social skills, numeracy and literacy and planning for the future.
College learners are aged 16 to 24 and have a range of SEND including autism, mild, moderate and more severe learning difficulties, sensory and physical impairments. Please note, learners who are, or will be, 19 or over on 31st August in the year they wish to start must have an Education Health and Care Plan EHCP) and their place in the College must be agreed by their Local Authority.
A note to parents and guardians
Whichever programme your son or daughter joins at Buzz Learning we encourage you to be involved in their education with us, as we believe working together is key to your child’s success. We will ask you how much information you want from us, how frequently you want it, and how you prefer to receive it (email, phone call, letter etc). You will also be invited into Buzz Learning to meet with staff at least once each term, to discuss your child’s progress.
Please note, if your child joins our Supported Internship programme, we will encourage them to make an application to Access to Work for support with, e.g., travel, a job coach and equipment if appropriate.
